Can someone help me plan a new years eve party?

ok well one thing that was a hit last year for an 8th grade new years eve party i went to was fireworks. Her dad got some fireworks you can set off at home, so we set them off at midnight :) they weren't huge, they just like fountained, but they were still great :) loud music, lots of people and GREAT finger food will keep everybody happy. you could play simple games like murder in the dark. you could hold competitions? :) like best dressed, or something like that. it'd be cool if you made it formal themed, so girls can get excited over buying dresses and the guys can wear something semi-formal. and then after all the excitement of shouting happy new year and setting off the fireworks, maybe you could make a small bonfire in your garden and have some peaceful time where you just make some smores or something :)
