How do I know he likes me or not? Does he?

Ok, so I like this guy at school, and I told him a couple months ago. Ever since then he has been acting different around me (in a good way). He is in my homeroom, which is good. We switch seats every month and it just so happens, the teacher puts me right next to him. We always would talk, and he would get really close to me, like he would sit on the edge of the chair like not even an inch away from me. Then one day, i had my hair down and straightened (for no special reason) and it was really soft and shiny. So then out of no where he starts touching my hair and he says "Wow your hair is really soft." It was kind of awkward because I'm not the real flirty type, but I really really liked it :). In science cl, he sits on the other side of the walkway sort of in front and diagonal from me. I ALWAYS find him looking at me. As soon as I see him looking, he looks away. But only sometimes. His eyes look desperate when he does keep looking though. When I'm standing with a couple of friends, he goes out of his way to be by me. But when people ask him if he likes me he says I don't know. Now just recently someone asked him if he likes me, and he said no. People still try to ask him, but he says no don't ask me like he doesn't want to tell anyone. All the people that knows I like him, thinks he likes me too. I am soooooooooo confused! Do you think he likes me?
