How representative of the judicial system is Judge Judy?

Is it really appropriate to a judge's job to find in favor of one side over another because you find them to be dislikable or disagreeable? If so, then exactly how much of a judge's job is based on arbitrary whim and personal feelings? And is it really sanctioned by law to tell people how to behave outside of legal issues?
